Our work integrates Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Cognitive Behavioral strategies, trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing to create practical, skill-based growth. These approaches are grounded in research and designed for real life — not theory alone.

What Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction IS

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an evidence-based framework originally developed in medical settings to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, chronic pain, and emotional overwhelm.

At its core, MBSR teaches you how to:

  • Recognize your body’s stress response

  • Regulate your nervous system

  • Strengthen present-moment awareness

  • Create space between stimulus and response

  • Respond intentionally rather than react impulsively

Mindfulness is not passive. It is disciplined attention training. It strengthens your capacity to remain steady under pressure.

When the nervous system is regulated, thinking becomes clearer. Communication improves. Decision-making sharpens. Emotional reactivity decreases.

This is resilience at the physiological level.

What Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Is NOT

Mindfulness is often misunderstood.

It is not:

  • Escaping reality

  • Suppressing emotion

  • Positive thinking

  • Spiritual bypassing

  • Simply “relaxing”

While calm may be a byproduct, the goal is regulation — not temporary comfort.

Mindfulness does not remove difficulty.
It strengthens your ability to move through difficulty without losing yourself.

What to Expect

Resilience is built through structure, practice, and application.

Once you decide to move forward, we begin with clarity.

Step 1: Assessment & Discovery

You will complete a mindfulness skills assessment along with a detailed intake questionnaire. This allows us to understand:

  • Your current level of regulation and awareness

  • The stressors and pain points you are experiencing

  • The goals you hope to accomplish

  • Barriers that may interfere with progress

  • Protective factors and strengths already present in your life

This foundation ensures our work is intentional and personalized.

Step 2: The 8 Week Core Program

Land Strong coaching is structured around approximately 8 sessions.

Each session builds progressively and includes:

  • Mindful movement to increase body awareness & nervous system release

  • Breathwork to regulate the nervous system

  • Cognitive skill-building to strengthen thought patterns

  • Awareness training to reduce reactivity

This is active skill development — not passive conversation.

Step 3: Integration & “Heart Work”

Growth happens between sessions.

Each week, you will receive practical “heart work” designed to strengthen the skills we practice together. These exercises help translate insight into daily life, where real change occurs.

At the conclusion of the core program, we evaluate progress and determine next steps. Some clients feel equipped to move forward independently. Others choose to continue building deeper layers of resilience.

The goal is not dependency.
The goal is empowerment.

 

In-office, in-home, and virtual options

Our office is located in downtown Cumming, convenient to north Atlanta.

For family/parenting coaching, in-home options are available. This option offers the most organic training with your children.

For individuals and couples sessions, virtual options are available as well.
